Lakhimpur. Serious questions are being raised about the fitness and permit of vehicles being used to transport students at the Ebon Public School located in Nighasan block area. It is alleged that many vehicles operated by the school management are running fearlessly on the streets without legitimate fitness certificates and permits, causing the safety of students to be in danger. The worrying thing is that many drivers driving these vehicles do not even have valid driving licenses. Despite this, they are driving three and four wheelers carelessly. After school vehicles accidents, there are often talks of investigation and awareness, but action at the ground level is missing.
According to regional citizens, these school vehicles running without fitness and permits are openly violating the rules, but the responsible transport department has failed to curb them. The department sometimes sending notices to vehicle operators and managers is being done only by the department, while the situation remains the same.
The number of vehicles operating under the Ebon Public School is considerable, which work students to bring and leave home from home. The school management also charge a hefty fees from parents in exchange for these transport services. However, no serious efforts are made to ensure the availability of basic security facilities such as technical fitness of vehicles, fire fighting equipment and first aid kits.
The investigation of the Transport Department is also limited only during special campaigns. In such a situation, when the vehicles are not safe, the safety of the children aboard can be easily gauged. In addition, it is also alleged that private vehicles like Bolero, Jeep and Tempo, which have been out of the school in the school, are also being used indiscriminately for the transport of students.
Regional people clearly alleged that all this is a game of “setting”, and everyone knows about the vehicles running without permits and fitness, but no one is willing to take concrete action. This negligence is not only a violation of the rules, but also playing with the lives of school children.
