Cows produce insulin milk: Cow’s milk is like nectar but now it is going to destroy another disease. Scientists have done wonders in this matter. Actually, by changing the genes, scientists have created such a cow whose milk will be full of insulin. This directly means that there will be a severe attack on diabetes in the world because in diabetes there is a deficiency of insulin due to which sugar is not able to be absorbed from the blood. This increased sugar affects the vital organs like kidney, liver, eyes, heart. Causes harm. Now the cow created by scientists will achieve significant success in the fight against diabetes because there are 50 crore diabetic patients across the world, out of which 10 crore patients are suffering from diabetes in India alone. Type 1 diabetes patients have to take insulin daily.
Milk extracted from first transgenic cow
Actually, animal scientist Matt Wheeler was doing research at the University of Illinois, America. He has done this amazing thing by engineering the genes of the cow. The first transgenic cow in Brazil has become capable of giving milk with insulin. Matt Wheeler told that mother’s milk is actually a protein factory. We took advantage of this and made this protein in such a way that it can prove to be a panacea for thousands of people around the world. How cow genes were modified under the leadership of Matt Wheeler Biotechnology Journal Has been published in detail. At present there are many patients who need insulin daily. This insulin is made from genetically modified bacteria which is also expensive. But if it is available directly from milk then lakhs of people will benefit from it.
How scientists did wonders
Matt Wheeler’s team extracted a cow embryo and inserted a segment of human DNA containing the insulin protein into its gene. The code of human DNA is present in this DNA. After engineering this gene, this embryo was transferred to the uterus of a normal cow. From this a beautiful calf was born. After this the cow grew up, became pregnant and started giving milk. When the milk was tested, it was found that the same protein was present in the milk which is present in human insulin. That means it is exactly insulin. The study found that proinsulin from milk gets converted into insulin in the human body.
