Trinamool Congress has played a big role in the by-election to the Ballygunge assembly seat of West Bengal. Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Babul Supriyo has registered a landslide victory from Ballygunge. From the early stages, he was maintaining a good lead here and eventually won. In this seat, BJP candidate was third and Congress was at number four. Supriyo defeated Saira Shah Haleem of Communist Party of India (Marxist) by 2,0038 votes.
Responding after the victory, Supriyo said, “I give my life for the party I live in. I don’t need to prove it. First I scored 2 goals for BJP, now I am for TMC.” Will score 10 goals. I dedicate the victory with more than 20,000 votes to Mamata Banerjee and the TMC organization.”
Violence should not happen after elections in Bengal: BJP MLA
At the same time, BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul said that Babul Supriyo’s victory in Ballygunge was anticipated, Kiya Ghosh fought a good fight. He said that we urge the police, administration and the Election Commission to put a stop to violence in the state. There should be no post-poll violence in West Bengal. Paul said, “Surely something is missing, that’s why these results are coming, but we will rectify it. This is the verdict of the people which we will welcome. Violence will still happen because Trinamool means violence. To Shatrughan Sinha.” Congratulations on the victory.”
Let us tell you that the Asansol Lok Sabha seat fell vacant after Babul Supriyo resigned from the post of MP after switching from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to Trinamool Congress. At the same time, due to the death of Ballygunge MLA and minister in the state government, Subrata Mukherjee, there was a need to hold a by-election on this seat. Bypolls to both the seats were held on April 12. A total of 15 lakh voters were eligible to exercise their franchise in Asansol in West Bardhaman district, while 2.5 lakh in South Kolkata’s Ballygunge could exercise their franchise.
