Screams and cries... goons attacked women seeking justice in the doctor rape case, where was Mamata Banerjee?

Kolkata Doctor Case News Update: Protests were held across the country on the intervening night of 14th and 15th August against the brutal rape and heartbreaking murder of a doctor in Kolkata. During this protest, about 40 goons allegedly entered, after which an atmosphere of chaos was created. The police fired tear gas shells and used force to disperse the crowd. But questions are being raised on this matter. Till the time of writing the news, no statement or tweet has come from the Chief Minister of West Bengal. She has not said anything yet on the attack on the doctors after appealing to them to ‘return to work..’

From Delhi’s AIIMS to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, from IITs to IIMs, protests were being held across India under ‘Reclaim the Night’ for the safety of women. According to the police, a group of 40 people allegedly entered the hospital premises disguised as protesters. They damaged property there and pelted stones at police officers, forcing the police to fire tear gas shells to disperse the crowd.

Police said that the emergency beds where the patients were kept were also vandalised. Due to this, the doctors, nurses and police officers had to run away from there. These people were wearing shorts and vests and it was clear that these intruders were not present there in the beginning and entered later. After the mob vandalised the hospital building, CP Vineet Goyal called it a ‘malicious media campaign’.

According to news agency Bhasha, on Wednesday he welcomed the Calcutta High Court’s order to hand over the investigation of this case to the CBI. He had appealed to the protesting doctors to give up their boycott of work and return to work, as health services have been badly affected. He said, you can abuse me as much as you want, but please do not abuse the state.
