Rescue Operation: The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel finally managed to reach the body of the missing American paraglider. As easy as this may sound, this rescue operation was equally difficult for the ITBP personnel. It would not be wrong to say that perhaps this task given to the ITBP would be one of the most difficult rescue operations in the world.
Actually, this American tourist who had come to visit Lahaul Spiti had taken off on a paraglider from Gete village on June 11. Due to strong winds, the direction of the paraglider changed and the American tourist collided with the high mountains and went missing. After a six-day effort, the body of this American tourist was found, but it was beyond the capacity of the local administration to reach such a height and bring the body down from there.
Therefore, this task was assigned to ITBP soldiers, popularly known as Himveer. ITBP soldiers had to climb about 14800 feet (about 4.5 km) to reach the top of the mountain and then come down from there with the body of the American tourist. Let us tell you here that this climb of 14800 feet was not at all easy for the ITBP soldiers. The soldiers had to reach the top by climbing the steep rocks.

After a difficult and long exercise, the ITBP soldiers managed to reach the place where the body of the American tourist was lying. The ITBP took the body in its possession and started descending. After a long effort of about five hours, the ITBP soldiers came down with this body. Now the video of this rescue operation has been released by the ITBP.
This video released by ITBP is spine-chilling. By watching this video, one can imagine how difficult this rescue operation must have been for the ITBP soldiers. After completing this operation, ITBP has informed that the body of 31-year-old American paraglider Boxstaller Trevor, who went missing near Kaza in Lahaul and Spiti, has been successfully brought down.
The security forces have said that it took about 48 hours to complete this challenging rescue mission started by ITBP mountaineers. After the most challenging rescue mission till date, the body of the American tourist has been brought down from a height of 14800 feet. The role of the State Disaster Response Force and the local police has also been prominent in this rescue operation.
