New Delhi. The search for a new coach for the Indian cricket team has started. The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) can soon start the necessary process for this. It is not that the Indian board is angry with the current coach of the team, Rahul Dravid or wants to remove him. That is why Rahul Dravid will also have the option to apply for the next term. The tenure of the current head coach of the Indian team, Rahul, is ending in June.
Veteran cricketer Rahul Dravid became the coach of the Indian cricket team for the first time in 2021. He was given this responsibility in place of Ravi Shastri. Rahul Dravid’s first tenure was for two years. In the year 2023, it was extended till T20 World Cup 2024. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said that if Rahul Dravid wants to remain the coach even after the T20 World Cup, he can apply again.
Jai Shah said, ‘We will invite applications in the next few days. We want to choose a coach for the long term. Therefore, the appointment of the new coach will be for three years. There has not been a tradition in Indian cricket to have separate coaches for different formats. Anyway, many of our players play in all formats. But ultimately this decision has to be taken by the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC). Whatever decision the committee takes, I will implement it. CAC consists of Ashok Malhotra, Jatin Paranjape and Sulakshana Naik.
