Imphal . In two districts of Manipur, security forces have recovered large quantities of weapons, ammunition and explosive material in a recently conducted search operation.
The action was taken in different areas of the Kangpokpi and Imphal Eastern district, where the cookie armed groups allegedly built bunkers. During the campaign, the security forces destroyed these bunkers and seized a stock of illegal weapons. This information has been given by the Manipur Police on its social media X handle.
S. of Kangpokpi district The first campaign in the Mongpi Ridge area recovered a 7.62 mm SLR magazine, a .303 rifle magazine, a single barrel breech loading (SBBL) gun, two 9 mm pistol magazine, three SBBL gun cartridges, three .303 ammunition and a 38 mm anti-Retrown Cartridge.
In addition, the modified Pompei bombs were also found, including a long distance, five medium distance and two short distance bombs. Also, three tier smoke shells and a Baofeng radio set were also seized.
The second action took place around Twichin and Sibol villages in Imphal Eastern district. A 12 bore single barrel rifle, several heavy bipod mounted pompei guns (60 mm, 55 mm and 45 mm caliber), and more than 75 Pompey bombs of various caliber were recovered from here.
These include bombs of 82 mm, 75 mm, 60 mm and 45 mm caliber. In addition, two Burmese electronic IEDs (every 5 kg), three 12 bore ammunition and two baofng radio sets were also found. The 13 bunkers built by the cookie armed group in the region were demolished by the security forces.
Officials say the campaign was run to maintain peace and security in the area. The investigation of the recovered weapons and explosives was started and the questioning of the suspects is going on.
