The four projects that have been placed in this category include Indian Air Force’s communication equipment (routers, switches, encryptors, VoIP phones and their software) with Indian security protocols, airborne electro-optical pods with ground-based systems, airborne stand -Off Jammers and Indian Light Tanks of Indian Army.
This is the first time since the launch of DAP-2020 that Indian industry has been involved in the development of big ticket platforms like light tanks and communication equipment with Indian security protocols.
A statement issued by the government said that five projects have been offered to be placed in the Make-II category. Under which no government funding will be provided for prototype development purposes.
These five projects include a full speed simulator for an Apache helicopter for the Indian Air Force, a full speed simulator for a Chinook helicopter, a wearable robotic device for aircraft maintenance, an integrated surveillance and targeting system for the Mechanized Forces and an autonomous fighter for the Indian Army. Vehicles are included.
Indigenous development of these projects in the country will help in leveraging the design capabilities of the Indian defense industry, said a statement issued by the Defense Ministry. Along with this, these technologies will also help in establishing India as a design giant.
