A sensational murder case came to light from Odisha’s Puri on Wednesday, which has shook the entire city. This incident also came under discussion because it is a case of killing a senior serviceman of Shri Jagannath Temple. The deceased has been identified as Jagannath Dixit, who was associated with ‘Soupakar Sevayat’ i.e. kitchen service and was fulfilling his responsibility in the temple for a long time.
On Wednesday, when the holy festival of bathing Purnima was celebrated in the entire Puri and the bathing journey of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra was being celebrated with great pomp, a respected serviceman of the temple was brutally murdered on the same day. This incident proved to be a big shock for the people because the security system on this festival is completely tight and a huge crowd of people is around the temple.
According to the information, on Wednesday morning, Jagannath Dixit completed the bath service and went to a person’s house so that he could ask for the money lent from him. After this, he suddenly received information that his body was found lying on the roadside in Rabeni Chaura area of Gudiyashahi. This news created chaos in the area and there was a situation of fear and confusion among the people.
A shocking CCTV footage has also surfaced in connection with this murder, in which a person can be seen throwing Jagannath Dixit’s body. Local people claim that this person’s name is Patjoshi and he is the main accused of this murder. This footage is also proving to be important evidence for the police and the investigation has been expedited.
The news of the killing of the sevadar of the temple has shocked the entire city of Puri. Especially it is a matter of concern that among such a big security system, when a heavy police force is stationed in the city on a religious festival like bathing full moon, how can a respected person be killed? This question has created many doubts and questions in the minds of the people.
The police immediately reached the spot and started investigation after receiving information about the incident. Superintendent of Police (SP) Puri, Vineet Aggarwal while talking on the matter said that preliminary investigation shows that it is a case of murder and may be personal enmity behind it. He said that the exact cause of the murder will be revealed only after investigation.
SP Vineet Aggarwal said that on the basis of CCTV footage, the police has detained a person and is being questioned. At the same time, he also informed that the body of the deceased has been sent to Puri District Headquarters Hospital for post -mortem so that the reasons behind the murder can be ascertained.
This matter has become a matter of concern not only the temple administration but for the whole society. While people were celebrating the happiness of religious festival on one hand, on the other hand, a respected person associated with a religious institution became a victim of murder.
