Mysore. The manager of a gurukul in Karnataka’s Mysore district has been arrested after 18 girl students accused him of sexual harassment. The police gave this information on Wednesday. Police said the gurukul manager has been identified as Girish (40). Students from across the state are studying in Gurukul located near the Infosys campus in Hebbal, Mysore.
There are branches of Gurukul in many cities of the state. Police said the gurukul provides free education, accommodation and food to girl students below the age of 18 years and coming from poor backgrounds.
The incident came to light after the appointment of a music teacher in the Gurukul. The music teacher noticed the misbehavior of the manager and reported it to the child welfare committee with evidence.
After the complaint, the members of the committee visited the Gurukul and recorded the statements of the aggrieved girl students. In the preliminary investigation, it was found that the allegations against the accused manager were prima facie true. The girls have been shifted to Observation Home and Bapuji Children’s Home.
