Shakib Al Hasan
Shakib Al Hasan is often in the news more for controversies than his game, this time a controversy has been seen with him in the Canada Global T20 League. Shakib was captaining the Bangla Tigers team in this league, in which his team performed brilliantly and finished third after the league stage matches. At the same time, a ruckus was seen in the eliminator match due to which his team’s entire tournament ended from here.
Shakib refused to play super over in the eliminator match
Bangla Tigers team was to play against Toronto Nationals in the eliminator match, however, the match could not be played due to rain, after which the officials of this league decided to conduct a super over between the two teams to decide the result of the match. Shakib Al Hasan refused to accept this decision and his team Bangla Tigers was eliminated from the tournament. Shakib cited ICC rules as the reason behind refusing this decision where there is a rule to conduct a super over in case of a match being tied. Whereas if the match is shortened due to rain or any other reason, then in such a situation, the match must be of at least 5-5 overs to get a result.
Toronto Nationals made it to the finals
While Toronto Nationals got a chance to play the Qualifier-2 match directly after Bangla Tigers refused to play in the Super Over, they have also confirmed their place in the final by defeating Brampton Wolves by 5 wickets in this match. Now on August 11, the final match of Canada Global T20 League will be played between Montreal Tigers and Toronto National team, which will start at 9:30 pm Indian time.
