Australia’s legendary spinner Shane Warne will be cremated at the historic Cricket Stadium in Melbourne. One lakh people are expected to attend his funeral. Shane Warne’s manager, James Erskine, did not decide whether his funeral would take place in Melbourne, but said no other venue would be appropriate.
According to reports, in two to three weeks, he will be given a farewell with state honours. Before this, his family will perform a condolence ceremony for the legendary spinner. No final date has been set yet as Warne’s family awaits for his body to return to Melbourne. Media reports said that Warne’s close friends and family will gather in Melbourne when the 52-year-old veteran cricketer’s body will be brought to Australia from Thailand, where he died on Friday following a heart attack.

MCG was Warne’s favorite ground. He had a hat-trick against England in the Boxing Day Test in 1994 in which Phil Defratus, Darren Gaugh and Devon Malcolm became his victims. His statue is installed in the premises of this ground. These same fans are placing beer, flowers and pizza near their idol to pay tribute to them. The name of the Southern Stand of this ground is SK Warne Stand.

Bangkok. Thailand Police said Warne’s post-mortem report made it clear that he died of natural causes. Police spokesman Kisan Pathnacharoin said the findings of the post-mortem have been communicated to Warne’s family and the Australian Embassy. Police had also revealed that the late cricketer had told a doctor about chest pains in Australia before coming to Thailand, he was suffering from asthma and heart problems. Police also reportedly said on Sunday that blood stains were found on the floor in Warne’s room but they flatly refused to point to any other side.

Warne’s father Keith and mother Brigitte have released statements saying that the day of Warne’s death is a never-ending nightmare for them. It will be very difficult to live without them but their happy memories will help us overcome this sadness. The bereaved family has accepted the offer of last rites with state honours. He has also expressed his gratitude that a stand of MCG will be named in his son’s honor. Warne’s son Jackson tweeted, “I don’t think anything will fill the void left in my heart by your passing.” You have certainly been a great father and friend.
