The market, which was shocked by the Bharatiya Janata Party not getting a clear majority on its own on June 4 in the results of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, has started trading with a good recovery on Wednesday. At 10:15 am, the BSE Sensex was at the level of 72591.04 with a gain of 511.99 points, while the NSE Nifty was at the level of 22,051.65 with a gain of 167.15 points. Earlier, the benchmark Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) jumped 518.51 points to open trading at the level of 72597.56 as soon as the market opened today. Similarly, the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also seen trading at the level of 22032.85 with a gain of 148.35 points. On Tuesday, the day of results, the Sensex had fallen by more than 6100 points. Nifty also slipped well below its all-time high.
Top gainers and losers stocks
ONGC, M&M, BPCL, HUL, Tata Steel were among the top gainers on the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty, while Hindalco, L&T, Power Grid Corp, Axis Bank and Apollo Hospitals were among the losers. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth Rs 12,436.22 crore on June 5, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) sold shares worth Rs 3,318.98 crore. Apart from this, some companies will announce their quarterly results today, including Arihant Institute, McNally Bharat Engineering, Sandu Pharmaceuticals, Naturo Indiabulls, Super Crop Safe and Toyam Sports.
What is today’s business trend in which sector
Among different sectors, FMCG, IT, media, pharma, private bank and healthcare indices were in the green, while PSU bank, metal, realty, oil & gas, consumer durables, bank, auto and financial services indices were in the red. The broader market was in the red during the early trade session, with BSE Smallcap falling 1.20% and BSE Midcap falling 0.45%. 15 out of 50 stocks on the Nifty 50 were trading in the red. Out of the 30 stocks on the BSE Sensex, only five stocks, Power Grid Corp, Larsen & Toubro, NTPC, ICICI Bank and Axis Bank, were trading in the red, while Hindustan Unilever, Mahindra & Mahindra, Nestle India, HCLTech and Asian Paints were among the top gainers.
