New Delhi. On Thursday, December 21, 2023, the Odisha High Court approved the divorce of BJD MP Anubhav Mohanty. Advocate Lalitendu Mishra, in favor of Anubhav Mohanty, clearly presented his stand before the court and said that Anubhav Mohanty’s wife Varsha Priyadarshini used to behave very badly with Anubhav and refused to allow him to establish physical relations with her. Had done it. On the basis of this complaint of Anubhav Mohanty, the High Court has approved the divorce through a decree of divorce under Section 13(1)(IB) of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955.
For information, let us tell you that Anubhav Mohanty is a well-known actor of Oriya films and later he entered politics and was also elected by the public as MP from Biju Janata Dal. He married actress Varsha Priyadarshini in 2014. However, soon after the marriage, news of rift between Anubhav and Varsha started surfacing. Since then, speculations were being made that both of them may divorce each other for a long time. Shortly after this, news of the rift between the two became common and they decided to divorce.
But the reasons given by Anubhav Mohanty regarding Talaq were not acceptable to the people. Two years after their marriage, Anubhav Mohanty filed a case against his wife, accusing her of preventing him from having physical relations and living a normal marital life. Anubhav Mohanty clearly said in his divorce application that he tried many times to have physical relations with his wife but every time she was not ready for it at any cost. This is a part of normal married life, so he is extremely upset with his wife’s behavior in this way.
In response to these allegations of husband Anubhav Mohanty, Varsha Priyadarshini alleged that Anubhav has deprived her of the right to become a mother. Varsha accused Anubhav of being an alcoholic and claimed that he had physical relations with many outsiders. Anubhav, in turn, clarified these allegations through a video post on social media, stating that despite being married for eight years, Varsha had not established physical relations with him in any way.
It is worth noting that in 2021, news came out that Anubhav has filed a divorce petition in a Delhi court and Varsha has also filed a petition in the Supreme Court. The cases were later transferred to the Cuttack court. On September 22, a Cuttack court had rejected Anubhav’s plea for divorce, citing his wife’s denial of physical relations and lack of sufficient evidence to prove his claims of mental harassment. Anubhav challenged this decision in the High Court and after the hearing, a bench of two judges approved the divorce and ruled in his favor.
