“Right now, she (Hasina) is in India. She will return to Bangladesh as soon as the interim government decides to hold elections,” said Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Hasina’s son who lives in the US. He did not say whether 76-year-old Hasina would contest the election. “My mother would have retired from politics after the current term,” Joy said. “I never had any political ambitions and settled in the US, but the developments in Bangladesh in the last few days show that there is a leadership vacuum.
