Sheikh Hasina, PM of Bangladesh.
Dhaka: Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will soon return to her country. After the formation of a new caretaker government, Hasina will return home for the Bangladesh elections. This claim has been made by the former Prime Minister’s son. His son has definitely said that she will return to Bangladesh for the next elections. But it is not clear whether Hasina will contest the elections or not. Let us tell you that the countrywide protests by students against reservation in Bangladesh worsened the situation so much that the former Prime Minister had to leave her country.
Meanwhile, a series of terrible violence, arson, vandalism and killings of minorities started in Bangladesh, which is still continuing. After weeks of deadly protests in Bangladesh, Hasina was forced to step down. After this, she came to India on Monday. Then she resigned from her post. After this, the President of Bangladesh appointed Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus as the head of the interim government. Now the caretaker government under the leadership of Yunus has taken oath.
Will Hasina contest elections again?
“Right now, she (Hasina) is in India. She will return to Bangladesh as soon as the interim government decides to hold elections,” said Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Hasina’s son who lives in the US. He did not say whether 76-year-old Hasina would contest the election. “My mother would have retired from politics after the current term,” Joy said. “I never had any political ambitions and settled in the US, but the developments in Bangladesh in the last few days show that there is a leadership vacuum. I had to be active for the sake of the party and I am at the forefront.” (Reuters)
