Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan held a meeting with the Agriculture Ministers of 8 states through video conferencing at Krishi Bhavan on Friday. The main agenda of this meeting was ‘self-reliance’ regarding pulses in the country. Shivraj has discussed ‘self-reliance’ regarding pulses in the country with the Agriculture Ministers of the states.
Emphasis on collective efforts
In the meeting held at Krishi Bhavan, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that the Kharif season has started. This is the time to discuss and plan with the states. Shivraj said that we have to become self-sufficient in the production of tur, masoor and urad through collective efforts. Shivraj also discussed in detail the collective efforts and upcoming plans by the central and state governments for self-sufficiency in pulses in the country.
Emphasis will be on these crops
Shivraj said that if we all work together, we can completely eliminate our dependence on pulses imports in 2 years. Shivraj further said that we all have to focus on the three important pulse crops of Kharif, namely tur, urad and moong. Minister of State Ramnath Thakur and senior officials of the ministry were present in this meeting.
