Ahead of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has suffered a major setback. State AAP chief Anup Kesari and two other leaders joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday. At the residence of JP Nadda in the national capital, Kesari along with organization general secretary Satish Thakur and Una district chief Iqbal Singh were given BJP membership. On this occasion, he targeted AAP’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal. He accused Kejriwal of insulting party leaders during the roadshow in Mandi constituency.
Kesari said, “We in Himachal Pradesh were working round the clock with full sincerity and dedication for AAP for the last eight years. But, Arvind Kejriwal ignored the party workers of the state during the rally and roadshow in Mandi. State AAP workers in Pahari considered this neglect as an insult and left the party for self-respect.”
‘Kejriwal didn’t even see us’
Kesari said that we are very disappointed with him (Kejriwal). They haven’t even seen us, who work day and night for the party. Only Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann were the main attractions of the roadshow in Mandi. After joining BJP, he assured Union Minister Anurag Thakur and party’s national chief JP Nadda to work harder to bring the party back to power in the upcoming assembly elections.
‘Workers feeling humiliated’
Satish Thakur and Iqbal Singh also gave the same reason for leaving AAP. He said that the workers who have committed themselves for the party are feeling humiliated by the Chief Ministers of Delhi and Punjab during the roadshow at Mandi in Himachal Pradesh. “We felt humiliated and neglected during the roadshow on April 6, so we decided to join BJP to work under the leadership of Prime Minister pic.twitter.com/MTUrPcR1VY
