Dhaka: The ongoing crisis in Bangladesh has raised concerns of India and many neighbouring countries. Sheikh Hasina is currently in India. Yesterday, in an all-party meeting on the Bangladesh issue, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar made the leaders of all parties aware of the situation in Bangladesh. Meanwhile, Nobel laureate Mohammad Yunus has been made the head of the interim government of Bangladesh. Khaleda Zia’s son Tariq Rahman is coming to Bangladesh from Britain. Tariq will address the gathering upon reaching Bangladesh. A “Vijay Jhooth” will also be taken out.

Bangladesh scorched by violence

Bangladesh is witnessing widespread violence after Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister and left the country. Hindus are being specifically targeted in the capital Dhaka, Chittagong and other areas including Kulna. Prisoners who escaped from jail during the violence are seen roaming openly with weapons. During this violence, many Hindu temples, houses and business establishments have been vandalized. Women have been attacked and at least two Hindu leaders associated with the Awami League party have been killed. The fundamentalists are selectively damaging the properties of Hindus. Be it a temple or a gurudwara, there have been attacks everywhere. Meanwhile, India TV has conducted a poll through its website and social media. People’s opinion has been seen in the poll.

Should Bangladesh’s former PM Sheikh Hasina be given asylum in India? When India TV tried to know people’s opinion through this poll on its website and social media, thousands of people responded to it. Out of which 60 percent people said that Sheikh Hasina should get asylum in India. 33 percent people said that she should not get asylum. At the same time, there were 7 percent people who did not express any opinion.
