Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday said that senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi should be the Prime Minister of the country. His statement has come at a time when some leaders of the parties included in the ‘India’ alliance have advocated making Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge the prime ministerial face of the alliance for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Siddaramaiah said, “Only the Congress Party has the power to solve the problems of this country…For this, Rahul Gandhi should be the Prime Minister of the country.”

Addressing the 139th Foundation Day celebrations of Congress, he said, “No one in the country has done anything like ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’.” Now, he (Rahul Gandhi) is about to launch the second edition of ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ – ‘Nyaya Yatra’. This is because everyone in the country has not got justice.” The Chief Minister said, ”Everyone in the country including backward classes, Dalits, minorities and women should get justice, that is why Rahul Gandhi is going to take out this yatra.” He said, “For the sake of the country, to protect the Constitution, to save the country’s multiculturalism and sovereignty and to provide justice, we all have to forget all our differences and fight together and bring the Congress back to power.” will be.”
Have advocated making Rahul PM in 2019 also
Even before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Siddaramaiah had advocated making Rahul Gandhi the face of the Prime Minister. Referring to some people talking about soft Hindutva, the Chief Minister said, “Hindutva is Hindutva. I am Hindu. Hindu and Hindutva are different…Haven’t we built Ram temples in our villages? Don’t we worship Ram and sing bhajans? I also used to go to my village to perform bhajans…are we not Hindus? We are also Hindus.
