Unable to speak in Palghar district of Maharashtra and mentally disabled 16 -year -old girl got justice from the court. The guilty of rape of the teenager has been sentenced to life imprisonment based on his statement in his symbolic language.
A special court of Vasai, who is hearing cases under the Poxo Act under the Poxo Act, on Friday, sentenced a 48 -year -old convict to life imprisonment to life imprisonment. Special Poxo Judge SV Kongal also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Sanehi Srikishan Gaur, convicted in his order. Special Public Prosecutor Jayaprakash Patil told the court during the trial that Gaur raped the teenager living in his neighborhood in January 2017, when there was no one in his house. The teenager later told her mother about sexual harassment through gestures, after which her family lodged a police complaint against Gaur.
The convict is married and has two children. Patil said that nine witnesses of prosecution, including the victim, testified in the court. The victim interacted through symbolic language. The court said that the teenager is a little mentally handicapped and cannot understand the distinction of good and bad of crime, which makes it serious.
The judge sentenced Gaur to life imprisonment and said in his order, “I believe that the accused should be given maximum sentence in view of the nature of the crime.”
