Due to his doing this, the universe started becoming powerless, only then a demon named Tarakasur took advantage of this time and attacked the gods and defeated the gods. Due to which there was an outcry all around, then all the gods prayed to Brahmaji to solve this problem. During this, Brahmaji told that only the son of Shiva will kill Tarakasur. Hearing this, all the deities go to Lord Shiva and tell what they have said by Brahma, then Lord Shankar tests his love for “Parvati” and, being pleased with Parvati’s penance, marries Parvati. After this Kartikeya is born. Kartikeya kills Tarakasur. According to mythological belief, Lord Kartikeya was born on the date of Shashthi, hence his worship has special significance on this day.
