CM Prem Singh Tamang’s party got majority
Sikkim Election Result 2024: The results of the Sikkim assembly elections are out. Sikkim Krantikari Morcha i.e. SKM is once again going to form the government with a huge majority. Out of the 32 seats in the state, SKM has crossed the majority mark by ensuring its victory on 23 seats, while it is leading in the trends on 8 seats. At the same time, Sikkim Democratic Front i.e. SDF has got one seat.
The ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) has won a big victory for the second time in a row. BJP, Congress and Citizen Action Party-Sikkim (CAP-S) did not win a single seat. Voting for 32 assembly seats in Sikkim was held in the first phase on April 19. Along with the assembly, voting was also held for one Lok Sabha seat in Sikkim, the results of which will be declared on June 4.
Tamang became the sixth CM of the state in 2019
Prem Singh Tamang is currently the Chief Minister of Sikkim. He was elected the sixth Chief Minister of the state in 2019. Prem Singh Tamang hails from West Sikkim and has been active in politics since the early 1990s. In 1993, Prem Singh Tamang joined the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) and reached the Assembly by contesting from Chakung assembly seat in 1994. After this, he was also made a minister in the state government and remained a cabinet minister till 2009.
Won 17 seats in last election
Prem Singh Tamang remained in the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) for about 16 years. After this he rebelled. In 2013, Prem Singh Tamang formed the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) and contested the assembly elections for the first time in 2019. In 2019, the Sikkim Democratic Front won a big victory in 17 out of 32 seats in the state. After this Prem Singh Tamang became the CM of the state. Now his party has got a second landslide victory.
