Snapchat has added an amazing feature to identify AI generated content. Users will be able to easily identify content created by AI on photo and video sharing social media platforms. Many content spreading rumors through AI generated deepfake videos and photos have been shared on social media platforms. AI generated deepfake content looks so real that it is difficult for an ordinary user to recognize it.
Will be able to recognize content with AI instantly
This feature of Snapchat will put a special watermark on the content created by AI. Through this watermark, users will be able to identify that the photos and videos uploaded on social media platforms have been created by AI. Through this feature, watermark will also be placed on AI generated content and uploaded content created by any third party app.
Snapchat has announced this watermark feature through its blogpost. The company has added several AI powered features to the app since 2015, including AR Lens, My AI, Generative AI Chat Wallpapers, etc. This new watermark feature will work like a visual marker. AI generated content will have a ghost watermark placed on Snapchat to indicate that it is an AI generated photo or video.
Action on removing watermark
Snapchat has issued a warning to users not to remove this watermark. According to Snapchat’s support page, if a user removes this ghost watermark from AI generated content, it will be considered a violation of the rules. The social media platform said that it has a very strict review system for every content. Rumors being spread through AI content will be stopped in advance. Recently, many AI generated deepfake content went viral in India, in view of which the government had asked social media platforms to stop such content.
