The spokesperson of parent company Meta has confirmed about this feature.
Internal testing is happening
According to TechCrunch report, a reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi posted a screenshot of this feature of Instagram on social media platform X last year. Meta has confirmed that this feature of Instagram is currently being tested only on internal protocol, that is, only close members of the company are testing this feature. After testing its beta version can be rolled out.
In this feature of Instagram, users will be able to share their live location in real time with their close friends. Users can also share their real-time location on Meta’s instant messaging platform WhatsApp. According to the screenshot shared by Alessandro Polozzi, through this feature of Instagram, users will be able to send real-time location to their friends in the form of notes.
Ghost Mode is also being tested
Apart from this feature of Instagram, work is also being done on Ghost Mode. This feature can be rolled out soon for social media platforms. In this feature, users will be able to share their last active location with close friends. They will be able to hide it for other users. Instagram has taken this feature from Snapchat. Earlier, Instagram had also taken the Story feature from Snapchat.
