Hyderabad. Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday said that some people are unable to digest India’s development.
He said that while India is getting respect and recognition, some western media spreads propaganda against us on petty issues.
Naidu was addressing the Telugu New Year Ugadi celebrations at the Swarna Bharat Trust in Muchintal on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
He said, “The whole world is looking up to India. India is being respected, recognized and felt. While some western media may campaign against India on small issues, there are big public The life, value system, traditions and heritage of India are being affected.”
The Vice President also expressed concern over the deteriorating conduct of some members in Parliament and State Legislatures. The kind of language being used is bringing disrepute to the entire system, he said.
Rajya Sabha Chairman Naidu said some incidents in Parliament and state assemblies were painful. He also blamed the media for giving importance to such incidents. He said that if MLAs speak well on issues, it is not news for the media, but if someone creates ruckus, uses bad language or makes personal attacks on others, it becomes news.
Naidu stressed on the need to speak in his mother tongue. He said that everyone should speak in his mother tongue at home and among those who understand that language and if he is with other Indians then he should speak in Indian languages.
He said, “There is nothing wrong in learning a foreign language. You can learn any foreign language but you should speak in your mother tongue. This is our address and identity.”
