South Africa vs USA Super-8: South Africa’s team has defeated America by 18 runs in its first match of Super-8. This is South Africa’s fifth consecutive win in T20 World Cup. Earlier, the team had won five consecutive matches in T20 World Cup 2009. Now the South African team has equaled the 15-year-old record. In the match against America, the South African team batted first and scored a total of 194 runs, in response to which the US team could score only 176 runs. But the US team gave a tough fight to Africa and Andris Gaus performed well for the team.
Andris Gaus’s half-century went in vain
Andris Gaus and Steve Taylor batted brilliantly as openers for America. Andris Gaus scored a half century. He remained not out after scoring 80 runs, but could not make his team win. Taylor scored 24 runs. But the rest of the batsmen could not do anything special. Captain Aaron Jones returned to the pavilion without opening his account. Harmeet Singh scored 38 runs. Quinton de Kock scored a half century
South Africa opener Quinton de Kock (74 runs) scored a brilliant half-century. He shared a 110-run partnership in 60 balls with captain Aiden Markram. De Kock thrashed the US bowlers on a pitch considered slow and suitable for spinners and scored his first half-century of the tournament by hitting seven fours and five sixes in a 40-ball innings. Apart from De Kock’s fiery innings in the top order, Aiden Markram contributed 46 runs in 32 balls with four fours and a six. In the end, Heinrich Klaasen scored an unbeaten 36 and Tristan Stubbs scored an unbeaten 20, making an unbeaten partnership of 53 runs for the fifth wicket. It was because of these players that the South African team was able to reach a score of 194 runs.
Saurabh Netravalkar took two wickets
For America, Saurabh Netravalkar gave away 21 runs and Harmeet Singh took two wickets each. De Kock started to become aggressive after South Africa’s slow start. The team lost the wicket of Reeza Hendricks (11) in the powerplay who fell prey to Netravalkar. De Kock, along with Markram, scored runs quickly and completed his half-century. De Kock added 28 runs in the first over of Jasdeep Singh in which he hit three sixes and two fours.
