North Korea garbage balloons in South Korea
Seoul: South Korea has taken a tough stand on the issue of flying balloons filled with garbage. To teach North Korea a lesson, South Korea has announced the suspension of the peace agreement between the two countries. However, North Korea has been asked to stop its act of flying balloons. North Korea has flown balloons filled with garbage towards the neighboring country in the past several days. These balloons filled with garbage were seen in many areas of South Korea.
South Korea’s big decision
South Korea said on Sunday that it would take strong action in response to this action of North Korea. The National Security Council of the President of South Korea said that the council has decided to suspend the inter-Korean agreement of the year 2018. The purpose of this agreement was to reduce border hostility until mutual trust is restored between the two Korean countries.
No hazardous substance found
The Security Council said the suspension of the agreement would allow South Korea to resume military exercises near the North Korean border and respond effectively and promptly to any provocations by the neighbouring country. According to the Council, a proposal on the suspension of the agreement will be presented to the Cabinet Council on Tuesday for approval. Since last Tuesday, North Korea has released more than a thousand balloons in various parts of South Korea, filled with everything from manure to cigarette butts, pieces of cloth and waste paper. According to the South Korean military, no dangerous material was found in these balloons. (AP)
