New Delhi. Samajwadi Party MLA from Meerut Rafiq Ansari was arrested by the police from Barabanki today. After this, the SSP of Meerut formed a team under the leadership of CO Civil Line to arrest the MLA. After arresting Ansari, the police left for Meerut with him. More than 100 non-bailable warrants were issued against the SP leader from the local court between 1997 and 2015, despite this he did not appear in court.

In this case, Meerut police raided Rafiq Ansari’s house but he was not found at home. After this, the police got information that he was in Lucknow. When the police team reached Lucknow from Meerut, it was found that he was in Barabanki from where the police arrested the SP MLA. In a case in 1995, a report was filed against 40 unknown people. The police had submitted a charge sheet against 22 accused, in which the name of SP MLA Rafiq Ansari was also there.
The court took cognizance of the case in 1997. Since then, non-bailable warrants were issued against the SP MLA and he was continuously absent from the court. Rafiq Ansari appealed in the Allahabad High Court against the order of the local court. Rafiq’s lawyer argued that the 22 accused originally accused in the case were acquitted in the judgment of May 15, 1997, so the action against them should be canceled. The Allahabad Court directed the DGP of UP to ensure the execution of the non-bailable warrant already issued by the trial court against Rafiq Ansari.
