On Monday, Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan got angry at Deputy Chairman Harivansh in Rajya Sabha. Harivansh called out Jaya’s name to join the discussion and said “Mrs. Jaya Amitabh Bachchan”, then the SP member said “It would have been enough if you had just said Jaya Bachchan.” Then the Deputy Chairman said “Your full name is written here.” Jaya Bachchan said “According to this new trend, women will be known by their husband’s name, as if they have no achievements of their own.” Then Harivansh said “You have many achievements.”
Jaya Bachchan appealed not to do politics on the coaching centre accident and said that it is very disturbing that nothing is said about the pain of the families of the victims. Participating in the short discussion in the Rajya Sabha on the tragic incident of the death of students in a coaching institute in Delhi recently due to the alleged negligence of the authorities, Jaya Bachchan said, “No one said anything about the families of the children. What they must have gone through! Three young children are gone.”
Stop politicking over coaching centre incident
She said that it is very disturbing that nothing is said about the pain of the families of the victims. She said, “I am an artist, I understand body language and facial expressions. Everyone is doing their own politics. Politics should not be done on this issue.” Jaya said, “What is the meaning of Municipal Corporation? When I came here to take oath, my house (in Mumbai) was in a bad state. There was knee-deep water there. The work of this agency is so bad that don’t ask. We are responsible for this because we do not complain and no action is taken on it. What is the responsibility of the responsible in-charge? And this continues.” She read these lines from a poem of famous poet and her father-in-law Harivansh Rai Bachchan, “Everyone lifts the burden with their own strength, sympathy is only the tradition, everyone has to carry the burden of their happiness and sorrow separately. Friends, we have to be separated.”
