Once again, the havoc of high speed has been witnessed in Delhi. A Mercedes car hit a cyclist in Delhi’s Ashram area. The collision was so severe that the cyclist died instantly. After the accident, the accused driver fled, however, the police team has arrested him.
Delhi Police received information about this accident on the road from Ashram to Bhogal at around 7:56 am on Saturday. After this, the police reached the spot and after investigation, it was found that the name of the deceased was Rajesh, who worked as a gardener in a bungalow on Prithviraj Road. He was going to work from home in the morning, but then a Mercedes car coming from behind hit him fiercely, due to which he died on the spot.
The Mercedes driver surrendered himself
Some people also told the police the number of the vehicle. The Sunlight Police then started tracking down the Mercedes driver with the help of that number as well as CCTV footage. However, in the meantime, the accused of driving the high-speed Mercedes surrendered himself at the police station in the evening, after which the police arrested him.
Police said that the person driving the Mercedes was identified as Pradeep Gautam. 45-year-old Pradeep is a resident of Noida Sector 46. According to the police, the accused Pradeep buys and sells cars and has his business in Noida. This Mercedes car was with him for about a month. The owner of this car had given it to him for sale, and he was roaming around with it.
According to the police, the accused had hit Rajesh with a Mercedes car and fled. However, when the police traced the ownership of the car and reached the owner of the Mercedes, the accused driver surrendered himself at the police station in the evening. The police had received information about the accused from the owner.
