New Delhi. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have made it to the final of IPL 2024 by defeating Rajasthan Royals. Hyderabad team, led by Pat Cummins, defeated Rajasthan Royals by 36 runs in Qualifier-2. With this win, SRH has earned the right to face Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL final. KKR has made it to the final by defeating SRH in Qualifier-1.
Rajasthan Royals won the toss and bowled first in Qualifier 2 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Its bowlers restricted SRH to a score of 175 for 9 wickets. The Chennai pitch was good for batting. Therefore, it was expected that Rajasthan Royals would achieve the target. But its batsmen proved to be a hit and miss. Only Yashasvi Jaiswal (42) was able to stay on the wicket for some time.
Trent Boult spoiled Hyderabad’s start
Sunrisers Hyderabad, who came to bat first, had a bad start. Trent Bolt took 3 wickets in the powerplay itself and pushed Sunrisers Hyderabad on the backfoot. He dismissed Abhishek Sharma (12), Rahul Tripathi (37) and Aiden Markram (1). Trent Bolt took all these three wickets in his first three overs. After a while, Sandeep Sharma dismissed Travis Head (34) and Hyderabad’s score became 99 runs for 4 wickets.
Klaasen took charge
Hyderabad lost their third wicket at 57 and fourth wicket at 99 and were taken over by Heinrich Klaasen. This South African wicketkeeper batsman scored 50 runs in 34 balls. Klaasen, along with Shahbaz Ahmed, took Hyderabad to a fighting score after Nitish Reddy (5) and Abdul Samad (0) were dismissed early. Hyderabad had lost 6 wickets at 120 runs at one stage. From here, Klaasen, Shahbaz Ahmed, Pat Cummins (5) and Jaydev Unadkat (5) took their team to 175 runs.
Rajasthan batsmen surrendered
Rajasthan Royals had a bad start while trying to achieve the target of 176 runs. RR’s batsmen, who had knocked out Royal Challengers Bangalore in the eliminator match, disappointed their team against Hyderabad. Although Yashasvi Jaiswal (42) hit good shots in the beginning and Dhruv Jurel () in the last overs, their game was not enough for victory.
Sanju Samson out after scoring 10 runs
Rajasthan Royals were most disappointed by captain Sanju Samson, Tom Kohler Cadmore, Riyan Parag and Shimron Hetmyer. Openers Tom Kohler Cadmore and Sanju Samson were out after scoring 10 runs each. Riyan Parag could score only 6 runs, Rovman Powell 6 runs and Shimron Hetmyer 4 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin could not even open his account.
