Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah Mosque Case: Allahabad High Court will give an important decision today in the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Idgah Mosque case of Mathura, the Muslim side has objected to the cases of the Hindu side, Allahabad high court to pronounce judgement in Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi Shahi Idgah Mosque Case of Mathura

Prayagraj. Allahabad High Court is going to give an important decision today on 15 petitions filed on the issue of Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Idgah Mosque in Mathura. Justice Mayank Kumar Jain of Allahabad High Court is going to give the decision whether the cases are maintainable or not. On June 6, Justice Jain had reserved the decision on the objection petition of the Muslim side in the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Idgah Mosque case. The Muslim side says that whatever claims have been made by the Hindu side are not maintainable and a claim cannot be made on Shahi Idgah Mosque.

The Hindu side claims that Mathura’s Shahi Idgah Mosque was built on 13.37 acres of land of Katra Keshavdev temple. The Hindu side has argued that Lord Krishna was born at this place and his grandson Vajranabh built a huge temple. The Hindu side argues that Mughal emperor Aurangzeb demolished the Katra Keshavdev temple and built the Shahi Idgah Mosque on it. The Hindu side has also said that the agreement made with the Muslim side in 1968 is illegal and the entire land should be given to the temple of Lord Krishna. The Hindu side has also said that there are signs of an ancient Hindu temple inside the Shahi Idgah Mosque.

On the other hand, the Muslim side says that the claims made by the Hindu side under the Places of Worship Act of 1991 are not sustainable. The Muslim side has said that 13.37 acres of land will be given to Shahi Idgah under the agreement. Apart from this, the Muslim side has also opposed the petitions of the Hindu side by citing the Limitation Act, Waqf Act and Special Relief Act. The Muslim side also says that it is clear from the case that the mosque was built in 1669-1670. The Muslim side denies that there was any temple there before the mosque. Whereas, citing historians of Aurangzeb’s era, the Hindu side has said that the mosque was built by demolishing the temple. In this case, the Hindu side has also demanded a revenue survey. In May 2023, the Allahabad High Court transferred all the cases related to Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Idgah to itself. Allahabad High Court had also ordered the Advocate Commission to conduct a survey of the Shahi Idgah complex, but on the plea of the Muslim side, the Supreme Court had stayed the Advocate Commission’s order for the survey. The Supreme Court had then said that the Allahabad High Court will decide on the maintainability of the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Idgah Mosque case.
