This Sri Lankan cricketer is wicketkeeper-batsman Niroshan Dickwella who has been banned from all formats of cricket. Newswire.lk quoted Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) sources as saying that Dickwella could face an indefinite ban while the investigation continues. An official announcement from the board is expected soon. Dickwella was the captain of the team Galle Marvels in LPL 2024. As an opener, he scored just 184 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 153.33. His team reached the final of the tournament, but lost badly to Jaffna Kings. Dickwella could score only five runs off 8 balls in the match.
Has a long association with controversies
The 31-year-old cricketer has had a long history of controversies. Earlier in 2021, he was banned for a year along with Danushka Gunathilaka and Kusal Mendis for violating the bio-bubble in England. He has not been a part of Sri Lanka for a long time. He played his last Test against New Zealand in March 2023 and his last white-ball international match was an ODI against Australia in June 2022. It has been a long time since he played T20I. On 21 June 2021, he played his last T20I against England.
