Chennai/New Delhi. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Friday requested the central government to release a total of Rs 23,430.38 crore to the state. Stalin met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Delhi and handed over a memorandum to her.
According to him, an amount of Rs 20,860.40 crore is pending to the state from various ministries of the central government, which includes Rs 13,504.74 crore as arrears of Goods and Services Tax (GST) compensation.
The memorandum said that with the conduct of local body elections in Tamil Nadu, Stalin urged the Center to release a basic grant of Rs 548.76 crore and the remaining Rs 2,029.22 crore for the performance grant as recommended by the 14th Finance Commission.
