New Delhi. The steel wall built on the Delhi and UP border was finally broken. People have been waiting for this for a long time. This can be gauged from the fact that there is an atmosphere of ‘celebration’ on both sides, people around are happy because commuting between the two states will now become easier. This will save both time and money of the people.
The main border between Ghaziabad and Delhi of Uttar Pradesh is UP Gate. Most of the people of Ghaziabad and Trans Hidan used this border to travel towards Delhi. According to the traffic police, about one lakh vehicles travel through this border every day. In view of the farmers’ movement that started about 36 years ago, Delhi Police had erected a strong concrete wall on the border. The strength of this wall can be gauged from the fact that before building the wall, a network of rods was made, so that the farmer could not break it even if it is hit by a tractor or bulldozer.
After the construction of this wall, traffic from here was stopped. Traffic could be done only through Delhi-Meerut Expressway or NH 9. People here used to go via Maharajpur border only. Here too, Delhi Police had kept only one lane open out of four. Because of this, there used to be traffic jams in the morning and evening. In which both people’s time and money were wasted. Apart from this, pollution also increased.
The work of removing this wall was started on Tuesday and by Wednesday afternoon the border was completely cleared. Now the farmers’ movement is completely under control and additional forces have been deployed in Delhi and Noida Ghaziabad for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. In view of this, it has been decided that the traffic should be made smooth without any hindrance.
