The Indian stock market closed with a slight rise in Thursday’s trading session. The market’s main indices traded in a narrow range throughout the session. BSE Sensex closed at 71,721 points with a marginal gain of 63 points or 0.09 per cent and NSE Nifty closed at 21,647 points with a gain of 28 points or 0.13 per cent. Today, midcap and smallcap stocks are seeing a rise in the market compared to large cap stocks.
The number of stocks rising today was higher in today’s trading session. The Nifty Midcap index closed at 47,337 points with a gain of 0.49 per cent and the Nifty Smallcap index closed at 15,476 points with a gain of 89 points or 0.58 per cent. Auto, PSU Bank, Fin Service, Energy, Infra and Commodity indices closed with gains. At the same time, Pharma, FMCG, Metal, Realty, Media and IT indices closed in the red.

In the Sensex pack, Reliance, UltraTech Cement, Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, Power Grid, Tata Motors, Tech Mahindra, TCS, Tata Steel, Kotak Mahindra, Bajaj Finance, Maruti Suzuki and Asian Paints closed with gains.
Whereas, Infosys, HUL, Wipro, L&T, JSW Steel, Nestle, Sun Pharma, Titan, HDFC Bank, HCH Tech, SBI, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finserv, NTPC, ITC, M&M and Bharti Airtel closed in the red.

In Asian markets, markets of Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taipei closed in the green. The markets of Bangkok, Seoul and Jakarta closed in the red. There was a rise in the markets of America. Crude oil benchmark Brent crude was trading at $77.92 per barrel, up 1.42 per cent or $1.09 per barrel and WTI crude was trading at $72.50 per barrel, up 1.56 per cent or $1.13 per barrel.
