Stock Market Close: There were ups and downs in the Indian stock market in Wednesday’s trading session. Major indexes have closed with a rise. BSE Sensex closed at 72,101.69 points, up 89 points or 0.12 percent, and NSE Nifty closed at 21,839 points, up 21.65 points or 0.10 percent. During the day’s trading, the Sensex touched a high of 72,402 and a low of 71,674. At the same time, it traded in the range of 21,710 to 21,930 in the session.
In today’s session, gains were seen in FMCG, Energy, Realty, PSU Bank, Auto and Consumer stocks. However, pressure has been seen in metal, service, finance, IT and banking stocks. Despite the rise, the number of rising shares on NSE was less than the falling ones. The Nifty Midcap 100 index closed at 45,919 points with a marginal fall of 6.40 points or 0.01 per cent and the Nifty Smallcap 100 index closed at 14,593 points with a rise of 6.70 points or 0.05 per cent.

Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, HUL, JSW Steel, HCL Tech, Infosys, Wipro and TCS closed in the red.
