New Delhi. Haryana Government is seriously working on the arrangements for fire safety to prevent fire incidents in all the government buildings in the state. Chief Secretary Shri Sanjeev Kaushal held an important meeting today regarding the fire safety audit and gave strict instructions to the officers that in the next 3 months all the buildings should fulfill the fire safety norms. This is the third review meeting on the subject in the last 3 months. The Chief Secretary directed the officers to conduct a special fire safety audit of cinema halls and multiplexes operating in the state in the coming one week. Similarly, in the coming time, fire safety audit of universities, especially hostels will also be done. Kaushal said that untimely fire incidents not only cause loss of property but also endanger the lives of citizens, so all government buildings should have proper fire prevention arrangements. Any delay in this will not be tolerated.
10 out of 13 medical colleges fully equipped with fire safety equipment
The Chief Secretary was apprised in the meeting that Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College, Karnal, Al-Falah Medical College, Faridabad, Dhauj, ESIC, Faridabad, Maharaja Agrasen Medical College, Agroha, Hisar, Maharishi Markandeshwar University, Mulana, Ambala, NC Medical Colleges & Hospitals, Israna, Panipat and Shaheed Hasan Khan Mewati Government Medical College, Nalhad, Mewat have complete fire safety norms and NOCs have been issued. Apart from these, NOC has been issued for fire safety in PJIMS, Operation Theatre, Trauma Centre, Auditorium buildings at Rohtak, NOC will be issued soon for the remaining blocks. NOC has also been issued to SGT University, Budheda, a private university in Gurugram. Thus, altogether 10 out of 13 medical colleges/institutions in the state are fully equipped with fire safety equipment. Fire safety norms will be fulfilled soon in the remaining colleges/institutions also.
Fire safety norms should be met in all civil hospitals in the next 3 months.
It was informed in the meeting that there are 28 civil hospitals operating in the state, out of which fire safety norms have been implemented in most of them. However, in some hospitals NOC has not been issued due to non-fulfilment of criteria. Giving strict instructions on this, the Chief Secretary said that fire safety norms should be implemented in all civil hospitals by the month of September. No laxity will be tolerated in this work. Similarly, a detailed list of the necessary changes to be made in the district jails should also be prepared and an action plan should be prepared soon after meeting with the concerned departments.

While giving instructions to the officers, the Chief Secretary said that the necessary arrangements including fire safety equipment in the buildings of the Market Committee should be completed by November 30. Not only this, necessary guidelines should also be given for the prevention of fire of food grains and other materials in the yard or shed and the fire-fighting system should be well-organized. He also directed that the buildings of small secretariats, municipal corporations, committees and municipalities should also be fully equipped with fire safety equipment by November 30 so that incidents of fire can be stopped and there is no loss of life and property.
