Success Story: The aim of most people who want to study from IIT is to get a well-paid job. But there are also many people who want to do something different away from all this. One such story is of IIT Kanpur alumnus Priyanka Gupta. She has decided to leave her corporate job in an MNC and make a career as a fitness coach. She has posted about this on LinkedIn, which is going viral. She also shared how she failed in her first startup, yet kept moving forward.
She left her job in MNC and became a fitness coach
She (Priyanka Gupta) further wrote in the post, “I have left a big MNC and my IIT pedigree attachment. Now, I help professionals stay fit and live longer. Many of my IIT peers started chasing the golden ticket to financial stability soon after graduation. I also had the responsibility of my family. When I took my first break from work after 5 years, I did not know how I would start a home-cooked food delivery business. I could not muster enough courage for this and started doing a 9 to 5 job again.”
The first startup was started with this name
She further adds, “Corporate life was great, but there was a desire to do something different, something you could truly call your own. In 2012, I took the plunge and launched my first startup, Indiabookstore. Quitting a well-paying job and starting your own startup is scary, but oh boy was it worth it! Sure, the money is nice and all, but there’s nothing like building something from scratch that you truly believe in. How/why I shut down my first startup is shared in another story.”
This post was shared two days ago. Since being posted, it has also received many likes and comments. A LinkedIn user wrote, “From chasing the salary offered in a corporate job to chasing dreams, your journey is a canvas painted with the colors of courage and conviction. The most rewarding adventures begin when we dare to get off the beaten path and make our own path.” Another user wrote, “Your journey highlights the importance of following one’s passion and accepting the challenges that come with it. I completely agree that it is important to prioritize health.”
