Annamayya: A man stole the jewellery of the goddess in Batagangamma temple located in Annamayya district of Andhra Pradesh and escaped. Two days after the theft, CCTV footage has surfaced in which the thief’s actions have been captured. In this, the clever thief can be seen worshipping the goddess. It is now viral on social media.
In the video footage, the thief is seen entering the temple disguised as a devotee. He probably did this to avoid suspicion. In the footage, he is seen entering the temple of the goddess and offering prayers. Then the very next moment he looks around to see if anyone is present nearby. Then, as soon as he gets a chance, he starts removing the gold ornaments from the idol of the goddess one by one. Within a few seconds, he can be seen stealing the gold ornaments from the idol and running away.

According to the CCTV footage, this theft incident in the temple took place between 10 am and 10.30 am on August 8. Usually, there is less crowd of devotees in the morning, which this thief took advantage of.
As soon as the temple administration came to know that the jewellery from the idol of the goddess was stolen, they checked the cameras installed in the temple. When the CCTV was checked, the thief’s face was revealed. The temple administration informed the local police about this. On the basis of the theft and CCTV footage, the police have registered a case and started investigation. The police is also checking other CCTV footage installed in the temple. So that it can be known whether this thief had entered the temple before this?
