Idlib: The Syrian co-founder of a terrorist organization linked to al-Qaeda was killed in an explosion by a suicide bomber in northwestern Syria late Thursday. A war monitor gave this information. Some activists reported that the bomb killed Abu Maria al-Qahtani. Abu Maria al-Qahtani’s real name was Maysara al-Dubouri.

Al-Qahtani was the co-founder of the Nusra Front, a terrorist group in Syria. The group later changed its name to Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and claimed to have severed ties with al Qaeda. According to Britain’s Observatory for Human Rights, the attacker entered al-Qahtani’s guest house in the city of Sarmada in Idlib province late in the evening and detonated his explosives.
