Supaul. Unidentified anti -social elements vandalized late Monday night at the public Durga temple located in Hridaynagar Panchayat ward number 12 of Basantpur block of the district, causing tension and resentment in the area. According to the local people, the Kalash was established in the temple for Chaiti Durga Pujan and regular worship was going on. After finishing the puja on Monday night, the priests closed the lock of the temple and went to their house, but when the priests and devotees reached the temple on Tuesday morning, the locks were found to be broken.
On entering the temple, the worship material was scattered here and there. Kalash was found broken, silver garland was also missing from the neck of the idol, and the pictures of God were damaged.
As soon as this news spread, hundreds of devotees and locals started reaching the temple. People started protesting against this act and demanded early arrest of the culprits.
On receiving information about the incident, Birpur SDM Neeraj Kumar, SDPO Surendra Kumar, Circle Inspector Anupriya, BDO Sujit Kumar Mishra and other administrative officials reached the spot and started the investigation.
Seeing the seriousness of the incident of the Bihar government minister, PHED Minister Neeraj Kumar Singh Bablu of Bihar Government also reached the spot. He took stock of the circumstances and directed the officials to take strict action. They said,
“This is a very condemnable event. The culprits will not be spared at any cost and will be punished harshly.”
Police investigation, strict security arrangements have deployed police force in the temple and the area so that the situation remains under control. The police is investigating on the basis of CCTV footage and other clues and soon strict action will be taken against the culprits.
There is a deep resentment among the devotees to maintain fury, peace, the local people have deep resentment about this incident, but the dignitaries of the administration and the society have appealed to maintain peace. At present, the police is investigating the case from every angle.
