Satyam Singh, counsel for the petitioner, BDS Dr Monika Singh, had urged the court to ensure a fair investigation into the August 14 attack on RG Kar Medical College. The petition also sought deployment of central forces for the security of RG Kar Medical College and its staff to prevent such incidents in future. The petition also argued that due to the failure of local law and enforcement agencies, incidents of vandalism and attack have increased. In view of this, deployment of central security forces is extremely necessary so that such crimes can be controlled and the safety of the medical college staff can be ensured.
