A significant hearing was held in the Supreme Court for illegal construction in Wetland and Green Belt area around Anasagar Lake in Ajmer, Rajasthan. Justice Abhay S. While hearing the case, a bench of Oka and Ujjwal Bhuiyan gave strict instructions. The court ordered the Seven Wonders Park to be demolished or transferred within six months, while the food court was directed to completely demolish by 7 April. In addition, the court clarified that the same amount of new wetland area should be developed in the urban area as the new wetland area has been destroyed.
In this case, strong arguments were presented by the government and the applicant. Additional Solicitor General (AAG) Tushar Mehta was present by the state government, while former councilor and BJP leader Ashok Malik attended personally. On March 12, the state government filed an affidavit of 49 pages to the Supreme Court, which was given a description of the action taken so far, future plans, construction and current photographs and the Consumption Wonders Park to another place.
On the other hand, petitioner Ashok Malik filed a 65 -page counter affidavit on March 14 to argue in the court that these constructions are completely illegal and can pose a serious threat to environmental balance. Citing the previous decisions of the Supreme Court, he urged to completely demolish all these illegal structures.
Following the Supreme Court order, the administration has started the process of partially demolishing some structures. So far a part of the food court has been demolished, an idol has been removed from the Seven Wonders Park and the canteen located there has also been removed. A part of the road of Gandhi Smriti Park has also been removed, but no concrete action has been taken so far on the Azad Park Complex and other structures.
This decision of the Supreme Court is considered an important sign for local administration and environmental protection policies. If the government does not follow the instructions of the court within the stipulated time limit, the court can issue strict orders. The next hearing of the case will be held on April 7, in which the steps taken by the government will be reviewed and the next strategy will be decided.
