New Delhi. The bail plea of Bibhav Kumar, accused of assaulting Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal, was heard in the Supreme Court today. While the Supreme Court issued a notice to Delhi Police and sought a reply in this case, it also reprimanded Bibhav Kumar, former PA of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The bench of Justice Suryakant, Justice Ujjal Bhuiyan and Dipankar Dutta said, were you not ashamed of behaving like this with a woman?
The bench asked Abhishek Manu Singhvi, the lawyer of Bibhav Kumar, is the CM residence a private property? Is the CM residence meant for keeping goons and who keeps such goons as their advisors? Now the next hearing of this case will be on August 7. Singhvi, while demanding bail for Bibhav Kumar, cited the bail granted to the accused in two murder cases, to which Justice Suryakant said, do not refer to those cases for us, because the way this incident happened is a matter of concern for us. We grant bail even to murderers, but what kind of moral firmness is there in this case?
Let us tell you that earlier on July 12, the Delhi High Court rejected Bibhav Kumar’s bail plea, saying that he has been a close aide of the CM, so his influence is very high. For this reason, the petitioner cannot be released on bail. Bibhav Kumar was arrested by the police on May 18. AAP MP Swati Maliwal had alleged that on May 13, when she reached CM Kejriwal’s official residence to meet him, CM’s PA Bibhav Kumar misbehaved with her and beat her up. After this, Swati Maliwal filed an FIR and her medical test was done at Delhi AIIMS, in which internal injuries on her face were revealed.
