A surprising case has come to light from Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, which has once again put marital relationships, women’s rights and family dignities in the dock. When a woman went to her maternal home here, her husband quietly got married and brought Sautan home. When the first wife returned to her in -laws, what happened to her is not only painful, but also shame both law and humanity.
Husband’s dual life revealed
The case is from Nibi Gaharwar area of Prayagraj. Here Anita Devi, a resident of Bedauli Bhins village, was married to Sunil Kumar on 27 May 2022. Shortly after marriage, a daughter was born. But since then, Anita’s physical and mental exploitation started on the demand for dowry.
Along with husband Sunil Kumar, mother-in-law Sarita Devi and father-in-law Ram Naresh also continued to taunt, beat and beat the daughter-in-law. Eventually, a month ago, Anita was beaten up badly and sent to her maternal home.
Second marriage two days ago
On 19 May 2025, when Anita returned to her in -laws’ house, she suffered the biggest shock when she came to know that her husband Sunil Kumar got married to a woman named Sangeeta on 17 May and also settled in the house.
When Anita opposed it, the husband, Sautan, mother -in -law and father -in -law together abused her, beat him badly and pushed him out of the house. Not only this, Anita was also threatened that if she took legal action, she would be killed.
Panchayat was also ineffective
Anita called a panchayat through the fraternity in her village, hoping that a solution would probably come out. But the in -laws’ side rejected the things of the panchayat outright and refused to accept Anita.
Case registered with police
Now the victim has requested justice by handing over Tahrir to Inspector Manda Shailendra Singh. On the basis of Tahrir, the police have registered an FIR against husband Sunil Kumar, mother -in -law Sarita Devi, father -in -law Ram Naresh and second wife Sangeeta. The police have registered a case and started investigation and assured legal action.
What does the law say?
In Indian law, a second marriage is a crime in the first wife, unless the first wife has a clear consensus. It is a non-bailable offense under Section 494 of the Hindu Marriage Act and has a provision of jail and fine up to seven years.
Anita’s fight is not just justice, but also of self -respect
The story of Anita Devi is not just the tragedy of a woman, but a question on the thinking in which a man can change his life partner on his own free will and the society keeps watching quietly. Anita’s fight is now not only against the husband, but also against the system that forces her to wander from rate to rate for justice.
conclusion
This matter has been reduced in a big city like Prayagraj, where law, education and understanding of society are considered relatively better. Nevertheless, a woman beating her in -laws out of her in -laws and recognizing the second marriage is a big question for both law and society. Anita now expects justice from law and like millions of women, she also wants her voice to be heard and the culprits are punished.
