New Delhi. Swami Prasad Maurya has resigned from the post of National General Secretary of Samajwadi Party. In his letter to party president Akhilesh Yadav, he alleged discrimination within the party’s leadership hierarchy and questioned the importance of holding a post which lacks equality. He emphasized his efforts to increase the party’s popular support and cited various historical figures such as Babasaheb Ambedkar, Ram Manohar Lohia and Kanshi Ram who advocated social justice and inclusivity.
Maurya highlighted its contribution to the party’s electoral success, especially in the 2022 assembly elections, where the party significantly increased its representation. Despite his efforts to strengthen the party’s grassroots support, he expressed disappointment at the lack of positive results from his proposals, including conducting a caste-based census and addressing issues such as unemployment, inflation and agrarian distress. Furthermore, he mentioned facing threats to his life and physical attacks during his campaign, and even receiving a reward for his murder. Despite enduring such challenges, he remained committed to his mission of promoting scientific temper and integrating marginalized communities into the party.
Maurya also criticized some party members for trying to undermine his efforts and suppress his voice. He mentioned instances where false FIRs were filed against him and revealed various murder attempts made against him. Despite these adversities he continued his campaign without compromising his principles.
