Dr. Smita Srivastava (BAMS Ayurveda), Medical Officer in-charge of Ayush Hospital Shivgarh, Rae Bareli, says that if we talk about taste in food, then the name of garlic definitely comes up. Because along with enhancing the taste of food, it is also beneficial for our health. An element called allicin is found in garlic which works as a medicine. At the same time, along with anti-viral, antifungal and antioxidant properties, vitamins (A, B, C) and sulfuric acid are found in abundance in garlic. These are very beneficial for our health. Due to which its taste is spicy and aroma is strong. But its excessive consumption can be harmful for us, that is why garlic should not be consumed on an empty stomach.
Garlic works as poison for these people
Talking to Local 18, Ayush Medical Officer Dr. Smita Srivastava tells that people who have acidity problem, bad breath, allergies, headache, women suffering from bleeding disorders, pregnant and lactating women. One should avoid consuming it. Because for these people it acts like a sweet poison due to which they can become more ill.

Garlic should also not be consumed by patients suffering from certain medicines like HIV, cancer, heart related diseases. Because it, along with the medicines used in these diseases, causes great harm to our health. She also says that it can also interact with blood thinning medicines, which can cause bleeding problems.
