Afghanistan defeated Bangladesh by 8 runs in a rain-affected match. In this match, Afghanistan’s bowlers have performed brilliantly. Bangladesh got a target of 114 runs to win due to the Duckworth Lewis rule, in response to which the team could score only 105 runs. But despite Liton Das’s brilliant innings, Bangladesh has lost. Afghanistan’s team has confirmed its place in the semi-finals for the first time and with Afghanistan’s victory, the Australian team is out of the T20 World Cup 2024 and its dream of winning the title is shattered. Australia won the T20 World Cup 2021 title.
Bangladesh batsmen could not stand in front of Rashid-Naveen
Liton Das batted well for Bangladesh in the match. He stood at one end and did not let the wicket fall. But the rest of the batsmen could not do well. Only Soumya Sarkar, Liton Das and Tauheed Hridoy could reach double figures. Liton Das completed his half-century in 41 balls. He remained not out after scoring 54 runs and could not make Bangladesh win. Rashid Khan proved to be the biggest hero for Afghanistan. He took 4 wickets for 23 runs in four overs. Apart from this, Naveen Ul Haq took four wickets. He also received the Player of the Match award for his excellent performance. Gulbadin Naib and Fazalhaq Farooqui took one wicket each.
Gurbaz scored the most runs
For the Afghanistan team, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim started very slowly. Gurbaz scored 43 runs in 55 balls. Whereas, Zadran scored 18 runs in 29 balls. Apart from these two, the other batsmen could not do anything special. Azmatullah Umarzai scored 10 runs. Captain Rashid Khan definitely played many big strokes and because of him the Afghanistan team was able to cross the 100 run mark. He scored 19 runs in 10 balls, which included three sixes. Afghanistan scored 115 runs in 20 overs. For Bangladesh, Rishad Hussain took the maximum of three wickets.
